ESAM Chevalier Award
Award for Outstanding Contribution to Aviation Medicine
The Chevalier Award of the European Society of Aerospace Medicine (ESAM) recognizes individuals who have made exceptional and distinguished contributions to the advancement of aviation and space medicine at the European or international level.
The award honours professionals whose work has significantly advanced the field of aviation medicine through scientific and research achievements, innovation, professional leadership, international cooperation or education.
Since 2016 the Chevalier Awards have been awarded to:

◦ Ries SIMONS
◦ Seppe CELIS
◦ Jeffrey SVENTEK
◦ Elena CATAMAN
Individuals who have made significant contributions to aviation medicine over many years may be proposed as nominees for the Chevalier Award by ESAM member associations or by individual members of those associations. Nominations, including the name of the nominee and motivation of the nomination, should be submitted by July 1st, 2026, to the ESAM Chevalier Award Committee by e-mail at: chevalier-award@esam.aero.
